Users should think of i-neighbors as a public space, just like a neighborhood park or café. Any information that users provide or communicate through the i-neighbors service may be publicly assessable. Only provide content and transmit information that you feel comfortable sharing with others.

Users have the option of making certain personal information available to other i-neighbors users, such as home address, telephone number, age, gender, personal interests and a picture. At a minimum, to participate in i-neighbors, users must provide their email address, name, and zip or postal code.

To help understand the impact of these services on people's neighborhood relationships i-neighbors keeps track of the pages users visit within the i-neighbors website and how frequently users use system services. i-neighbors maintains an archive of content transmitted through the system. Any communication or information you share over these services will not be considered confidential. i-neighbors is part of an ongoing research project at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, information posted, transmitted and otherwise collected by i-neighbors may be used in research reports, journals, books, and other publications without additional permission or compensation. Personal information, such as your name and contact information will not be used in any research publications. i-neighbors does not sell personal information to any third parties. i-neighbors may release information collected by the system to other educators and research partners for the purpose of academic research if they agree to abide by this privacy policy.
